About Us
A team ready to help you
Melgar Law Firm was founded in 2014 by attorney Diosalma M. Melgar, born from the desire to defend a community that was being taken advantage of — and to be a better option for it. From our office in Hauppauge, we have served families across Long Island ever since, building the kind of lasting relationships that often make us the attorney a family keeps for life.
Our mission guides everything we do: to empower the members of our community by providing expert legal guidance, instilling confidence, and navigating them through complex legal matters with clarity and support. We do not just handle cases — we guide people through life-changing moments, fighting hard while treating every client with dignity and respect.
Roughly 90% of our clients are members of the Latino community, and our team is fully bilingual in English and Spanish. There is never a language barrier and never a misunderstanding: our clients never have to explain their culture before being helped, because we understand their situation from the very first conversation.
